Social Events at Foley Hoag

There’s no denying that a big part of your summer associate experience should be the social events. The idea is that you’re doing real work, but that you’re also interacting with a variety of attorneys in a casual environment. This is a good time to get a better feel of how attorneys interact with each other and how you might fit in.
Foley Hoag’s summer program is no exception when it comes to the social events. Apart from the departmental summer parties, there are specific activities geared towards the summer associates. New to this year’s repertoire was Escape the Room. I had never participated in this intricate live puzzle, but I had been meaning to do so for years. There were three groups, each with summers and attorneys of the hiring committee. Each group did a different room and I’m glad to report that all groups successfully escaped the room.
In close second was Trivia Night. Trivia Night was held a few weeks into the program and it is the firm’s signature event. Each team had to guess trivia questions from any and all subjects. This was a great night, not only because my team came in second place (we lost on the tiebreaker!), but because it was the night all the summers went from being colleagues to friends.
Other events included bowling, a cooking class and partner dinners. These are just a few of the examples of social events at Foley Hoag. These events allowed us to get to know attorneys from different departments and practice areas in a more casual manner and it also allowed the summers to grow closer as friends. I hope I’m not the only one when I say that I love our summer class and I truly enjoyed getting to meet and spend time with such intelligent, funny and energetic people.
