There are more than thirty colleges and universities in the area, and like Boston, the city’s many neighborhoods offer a flair each one its own. Visitors to Georgetown can take in shopping, or sit in one of its many cafes and restaurants and people watch. Other areas like Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan offer similar opportunities.

Washingtonians love their sports, and the opening in 2008 of Nationals Park (home of Nationals baseball) signifies that the Red Sox may have some competition on their hands in the near future. The NFL’s Redskins play at nearby FedExField (Go Hogs!), and the Washington Capitals hockey team and NBA Washington Wizards play downtown at the Verizon Center.
