Competitive salaries, with plenty of perks.
Our attorneys work hard, and have fun doing so. We also realize that everyone has commitments outside the office. Foley Hoag offers an outstanding benefits package that allows you to balance your work and personal life.
Associate salaries are competitive with other major firms, and we review the starting salary and the salary scale annually. Our 2015 First Year Associates are being paid an annual salary of $160,000, and will be eligible for a bonus at the end of their first year based on several factors, including quality of work, level of effort and other contributions to the firm. The firm has announced that our first-year associate salary will increase to $180,000 on January 1, 2017. Entry-level Associates joining Foley Hoag from federal or state supreme court clerkships receive a bonus of $15,000 and are treated with advance standing for compensation and tenure purposes.
Summer Associate pay for the summer of 2016 was $3,077 per week.
Comprehensive individual and family medical, dental, life and disability insurance benefits are available to Associates. All lawyers are entitled to four weeks of vacation annually, and Associates are eligible to enroll in the firm's 401(k) plan after a short waiting period.
Foley Hoag pays all registration fees and dues for bar and professional associations in which a lawyer remains active, as well as for continuing legal education costs and other professional development expenses.
New Associates are reimbursed for out-of-state relocation expenses up to $5,000, bar review tuition, and registration fees for bar examination and admission in the jurisdiction of the office in which they will practice.
Today, there is greater emphasis on working to live, and not living to work. But while work-life balance has become something of a cliché, take a look at the lives of our lawyers and you will see we live it.
We recognize that parenting and work-family balance issues are not faced exclusively by women, and Foley Hoag offers all lawyers a combination of paid and unpaid parental leave, a dependent care assistance plan and access to an emergency day care center. We also offer a flexible reduced work schedule policy and a telecommuting policy to assist our lawyers who are raising children or caring for family members.
Over the past five years, more than 50 of our lawyers – Partners and Associates, men and women – have utilized these leave and part-time programs.
With the encouragement and support of the firm, lawyers at Foley Hoag are able to successfully balance practicing at the highest levels of their profession while enjoying active family and social lives outside of their careers.
